ABOUT
Despite a growing number of organisations and initiatives to support women founders, the gender gap in tech just keeps growing.
In the UK, 1% of all venture funding goes to businesses founded by women, and women start businesses with 53% less capital than men. We know that the stats are depressing, and getting worse.
What is far less talked about and reported, are the actual incidences of sexist, demeaning behaviour towards women in tech which occur on a regular basis. Details of encounters between women founders and investors on a human level. Qualitative rather than quantitative data.
After having heard far too many of these stories, a group of us decided to set up Founders for Fairness.
Posting true stories anonymously will raise awareness of how often this happens, how bad it is, and how things need to change. It could help men who unknowingly discriminate, recognise what they are doing.
It’s not just women we want to hear from. If you are a man in tech who has witnessed gender bias - please DM us @foundersforfairness on Twitter.
